Tropical Storm Gordon Update, 9/4/18
The Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) is preparing for the impact of Tropical Storm Gordon on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Four DMH programs are located in the southern portion of the state – South Mississippi State Hospital in Purvis, Ellisville State School in Ellisville, Specialized Treatment Facility in Gulfport, and South Mississippi Regional Center (SMRC) in Long Beach.
At this time, one community home program operated by SMRC in Gautier will be moving to the SMRC main campus in Long Beach to shelter in place there. The remaining programs are preparing to shelter in place, with staff coverage and additional preparations secured.
DMH employees are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as needed.
